Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission

Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act Standards Amendments

The beautiful lakes, rivers and streams in the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Region are some of its most valuable and vulnerable natural resources.
The New Hampshire Legislature enacted sweeping changes to the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act (CSPA) which will take effect July 1, 2008 and are designed to protect New Hampshire's public waters.

On March 25, 2008, UVLSRPC held a program on the CSPA and the amendments.
Arlene Allen, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) provided an overview of these changes and information on the new shoreland permitting requirements, impervious surface allowances, the standards that apply in the waterfront buffer, and the grid and points system for managing trees and saplings.

Updated Notice from NH Department of Environmental Services: Enactment of Changes to Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act Effective July 1, 2008 instead of April 1, 2008
