Charlestown Natural Resources Inventory

UVLSRPC Projects

Project Administrator:

Olivia Uyizeye

Project Title:

Charlestown Natural Resources Inventory

Related Services:

Land Use Planning, Natural Resources

Project Summary:

The Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (UVLSRPC) worked with the Town of Charlestown Conservation Commission to develop a Natural Resources Inventory and a Conservation Plan for the Town in 2009 (with Rachel Ruppel) and 2021 (with Olivia Uyizeye).

The inventory work involved mapping and documenting natural resources, wildlife sightings and crossings, conserved land and land enrolled in Current Use, and resilience of natural resources to climate change (added chapter in 2021). Also, the Conservation Commission studied where multiple natural resources occur in the same location.

The conservation plan lays out three major goals and steps that the Conservation Commission can take to achieve those goals - Increasing Land Conservation & Land Use Planning, Improving Land Management and Expanding Knowledge of Town Resources.

An online story map, visual and condensed cummary, can be found through UVLSRPC ArcGIS Online or visit directly through this link.
