Project Summary:
Southern Grafton and Sullivan Counties developed Regional Coordinated Human Service and Public Transportation Plans in 2008. These plans have helped guide the development of transportation improvements and innovations in the region for the past five years.
Coordinated transportation plans are required to be revisited every five years in order to obtain DOT funding but their main goal is to create a comprehensive strategy to assist state and community agencies, transportation service providers, and communities in coordinating public transit and human service transportation efforts. Goals for the plans include:
- Identifying unmet transportation needs
- Identifying transportation service gaps (e.g. un-served and underserved areas) and overlaps (e.g. service redundancies)
- Completing an inventory of existing public transit and human service transportation providers
- Identifying strategies to maximize the use of limited transportation resources through coordination
- Enhancing mobility within and between communities
- Increasing access to jobs, schools, medical centers, and other essential human services
Additional Information
The Grafton-Coos and Sullivan County Regional Coordination Councils are serving as Advisory Committees to provide input and guidance throughout the development of the plans. The general public and regional employers will be surveyed and then invited to provide comments on draft plans at public meetings this spring, but your thoughts about ways to enhance public and human transportation plans can also be sent via mail to 10 Water Street, Lebanon, NH 03766 or by e-mail to Pat Crocker.
