There has been a lot of discussion about the feasibility of a regional transfer station, but no evaluation of the interest in a facility.
The Commission contacted each Sullivan County town to determine their interest in a regional transfer station. Studies have been conducted to determine the cost of a regional transfer station, but no study has been done to compare the costs to existing municipal costs or the interest of towns in participating in a regional transfer station. After a survey of the towns, it was clear that the towns were not interested in a regional transfer station.
