UVLSRPC Projects

Project Administrator:

Patricia Crocker, MPA

Project Title:

Transportation for the Elderly and Individuals with a Disability

Related Services:

Transportation

Project Summary:

The goal of the project is to improve mobility for elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities throughout Sullivan, Grafton and Coos County. The FTA Section 5310 program provides financial assistance for transportation services planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special transportation needs of elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities in all areas—urbanized, small urban, and rural. The program requires coordination with other Federally-assisted programs and services in order to make the most efficient use of Federal resources.

Additional Information

Acting as a sponsoring agency the UVLSRPC will subcontract with three non-profit transportation provders to improve and expand access to medical, social and life sustaining and enriching services in underserved communities and to extend opportunities to access major medical services where none currently exists.

The Grafton County Senior Citizens Council will expand bus services to Orford and Lyme and The Newfound Area to serve the communities of Bristol, Alexandria, Bridgewater, Hebron and Groton as well as the towns of Plymouth, Holderness, Ashland, Rumney, Dorchester, Warren, and Wentworth. Eighteen percent of the estimated area populations are senior citizens and individuals with a disability.

North Country Transit will provide expanded non-emergency medical transportation for citizens over age 60 and individuals with a disability to facilities and services located outside of the Coos and Northern Grafton County regions utilizing volunteer drivers.

Community Alliance of Human Services will be the lead agency for delivery of volunteer driver transportation throughout Sullivan County. The goal of the project is to expand access to medical, social and life sustaining and enriching services in under-served communities.
