GIS Database Development and Maintenance for Eastman Community Association

UVLSRPC Projects

Project Administrator:

Rachel Ruppel

Project Title:

GIS Database Development and Maintenance for Eastman Community Association

Related Services:

Land Use Planning

Project Summary:

The Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (UVLSRPC) developed a local GIS (geographic information systems) database for Eastman Community Association. Eastman is a large private residential community in the towns of Grantham, Enfield and Springfield. UVLSRPC integrated the tax parcel data from all three towns, editing the tax parcels to reflect original subdivision lots, and creating a link between the tax parcel map files and the Access database of all lots in Eastman. UVLSRPC also developed a roads data layer of the private roads in Eastman.

The database  includes watershed data and sewer line schematics from the 2008 Eastman Lake Watershed Plan as well as data available from the state GIS clearinghouse, namely aerial photography, wetlands, waterbodies and soils data.

As part of this project, UVLSRPC  provided training to Eastman staff and volunteers on the use of ArcGIS software and the Eastman GIS database.

Additional Information

It is anticipated that the GIS database will continue to be expanded each year, incorporating additional local data on Eastman infrastructure, such as culverts, water lines, lightposts, and golf course utilities. In 2012, the Commission completed  a culvert inventory which documents all road culverts within the Eastman Community.
