Plainfield Interactive Natural Resource Inventory

Project Summary:
Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (UVLSRPC) created an interactive PDF map of natural resources data for the Town of Plainfield. The map is designed to be available for download on the Internet and utilization (by turning layers on and off) by non-technical users of GIS/mapping. UVLSRPC used the best available data from statewide data sources and the Town of Plainfield.
The map includes the following layers:
Water Resources:
- Floodplains
- Aquifers
- Watersheds
- Ponds, Rivers, Streams
- National Wetlands Inventory
Wildlife Resources:
- Top-Ranked Wildlife Habitat
- Unfragmented Land
- Land Use and Productivity:
- Public and Conserved Land
- Forest Soil Groups
- Agricultural Soils
Base Map Information:
- Roadways
- 20-ft Elevation Contours
- Tax Map, Zoning, Planimetrics
- Aerial Photography (2010)
UVLSRPC prepared and delivered a training session on how to use the natural resources maps in development application review or other town uses. This includec a demonstration and written instructions of how to use and manipulate the maps using Adobe Reader. The target audience is the Conservation Commission, Planning Board and any members of the public that may be interested. The Town of Plainfield was responsible for scheduling and advertising the training.
