UVLSRPC in conjunction with NHDOT, UNH T2 and the 9 RPCs developed a Road Surface Mangagement System software and process to allow for data collection (Phase I) and Forecasting (Phase II).
Phase I consisted of window and comfort surveys to assess the pavement condition of a 1/4 mile segment of road. Data was entered into an iPad that is connected to a live interactive map where data is stored. Survey data produces calculations of Pavement Condition and potential concerns. Culvert GPS points were also collected.
Phase II consisted of an analysis of the data and a proposed 10-year pavement preservation plan. Working closely with municipal staff, UVLSRPC was able to estimate potential road repairs that would fit within Acworth's paving budget while also bettering the condition of the road network. These repairs were estimated using Pavement Preservation techniques approved by the NHDOT.
Deliverables include forecasted cost and repair reports and a map series of road network improvements. These deliverables have been used as a planning tool for paving as well as support for a change in strategy and/or paving budget in future years.
