Member/Community Services

The Commission has been providing professional planning assistance to municipal boards since June 1963 when it was established as the Upper Valley Development Council. The Commission serves 27 municipalities, local groups such as river advisory committees, economic development councils, housing organizations and others who affect the future land use of the region. Our current staff's areas of expertise include land use, transportation, natural resources, economic development and energy planning as well as waste management and recycling and emergency management.

Over its long history, the organization has become the authority in land use regulations and regionalism that State and Federal organizations rely on for assistance in interpreting community responses to their programs and to assist in facilitating programs and distributing resources.

It is the Commission’s goal to provide techniques, guidance, technical expertise, and other resources to enable communities to sustain or attain a way of life that is equitable, healthy, and representative of the unique qualities of each community within the region.
