Natural Resources
The Natural Resources projects conducted by the Commission typically focus on assessing a particular resource and developing plans based on input from communities about their goals. Natural Resources planning supports a wide range of issues including water, species conservation, land protection, and regulatory policy. The Commission has completed Natural Resource Inventories for many of the region’s communities. Other projects include watershed assessments and plans and groundwater protection ordinances, addressing mitigation strategies to protect resource areas, particularly water resources and using Low Impact Development techniques for stormwater management. Natural Resources projects promote sustainable land use practices and raise public awareness of the importance of protecting the region’s valued resources.
