Household Hazardous Waste Collections

Project Summary:
Every day, people dump hazardous waste down their drains, into their trash, or onto the ground. These toxins eventually make their way into our drinking water. Providing options for responsible hazardous waste disposal is critical to keeping our drinking water safe. Visit our HHW web site.
The Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (UVLSRPC) coordinates and aids in implementing Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collections. The Commission tries to schedule three to four one-day collections annually, scheduling them between May and October at host municipality Solid Waste Facilities. The Commission contracts with a waste hauler on behalf of participating municipalities to sort, package, and transport the HHW for proper disposal. The collections are advertised and residents from participating towns can deliver their HHW during advertised hours--typically 9:00 am to noon--for free. Residents from non-participating towns are encouraged to come, but they are charged a fee depending upon the quantity of materials brought to the collection.
We no longer take unwanted medicines at our collections. Visit www.twinstatesafemeds.org for a list of police stations receiving medicines everyday in a drop box.l
